TRAININGRemoving inserts will introduce slop in any platform. To counter this, UMBRA™ inserts are adequately self-structured, allowing you to effectively perform gear drills without fighting a loose vest.
As the range of threats and possibilities for orchestrating attacks increase, so does the need for law enforcement, military, and security personnel to be sufficiently trained to handle them.
Our UMBRA™ layup is designed to allow operators to realistically train using FX® Simunition® in force-on-force scenarios while wearing their vests or platforms of choice without needlessly fatiguing their ballistic panels or forgoing the structural rigidity they provide.
An added benefit is avoiding the bruising that can occur when using Simunition® for training without adequate padding, allowing you to answer any calls the next day and be unhindered by uncomfortable swelling during real high-threat situations.
The layup is also favourable for MIL-SIM and other sports, wherein ballistic inserts are not practical or required.
NOTE: UMBRA™ inserts are non-ballistic and are NOT intended to be worn with ballistic body armour as a trauma pad or as a ballistic insert ICW (in conjunction with) hard armour plates.

The user of any protective gear should be aware of the limitations of the equipment and should exercise reasonable care and caution in undertaking activities that may cause damage to the body.
AVOID THE BRUISING, KEEP THE FUNCTION
Featuring a CARNA™ AT strike-face, UMBRA™ panels help mitigate and disperse energy across a larger surface area than pure foam inserts, allowing you to easily distinguish and call shots without having to deal with bruising after a training session.
Below the strike-face is a low-density Evazote® EV50 layer at a thickness of 4 millimetres (0.15"), providing adequate "bulk" to the vest, ensuring no void content within the platform cavity, and preventing the panel from shifting around when worn.
TRAIN WITHOUT THE SAG
Removing your ballistic panels from any vest or platform will introduce a significant amount of sag, making pouches and containers fastened dangle around or disallow high-retention mags from properly releasing magazines entirely.
Apart from functioning as a strike-face, the composite CARNA™ AT layer allows the panel to be self-structured while remaining flexible, letting you seamlessly perform gear drills without fighting against a floppy vest or platform.
INDUSTRY-LEADING WEAR RESISTANCE
We use a unique cover material made of lightweight, abrasion-resistant polyamide face fabric coated with a durable water-repellent. Our internal liner is TPU-based and features UV-blocking pigment to protect the ballistic materials from photooxidation caused by the sun's UV radiation, ensuring consistent performance throughout the insert's lifespan, no matter the environment.
Our two-stage sealing process ensures that every insert is safe from hydrolytic degradation from water, vapour, or general moisture. We accomplish this by pre-sealing the edges in custom-made moulds for consistency, sealing potential leaks from material bending and creasing before finishing the edges using an ultrasonic welding process to fuse the cover materials together.

As UMBRA™ is based on a closed-cell polymer for its padding, these cells may collapse over time when compressed, or impacted. Generally, FX® Simunition® is not able to burst these cells, but rugged use in a training environment might.

Generally speaking, UMBRA™ inserts work as long as no bruising occurs on the skin when impacted by FX® Simunition®.
Yes.
We manufacture these for most major armour cuts, including MOPC, SPEAR CUT/BALCS and per the NIJ size specification.
Please note, however, that most carriers vary wildly in terms of actual panel sizing, and as such we typically manufacture them on demand.
